Being an avid reader is torture. I often catch myself saying, "I want to write like that!" Whether it is the symbolic and eerie prose of Edgar Allan Poe or the molasses-southern drawl in the pages written by Harper Lee. Whenever I read a new book, I either feel the need to write a review or test my writing ability by adding my own chapter, prologue, or epilogue.
After teaching high school English for eight years, I have developed creative and effective lesson plans, especially those involving writing. I am well-versed in creative style, tone, and literary devices, along with formal formats such as APA and MLA style guides. Literacy is also a passion of mine, and I have done extensive research on reading programs, effective teaching methods, and assessments.
Outside of my career and hobbies, I am a wife and mother of three children ages 9, 10, and 14. I have read extensively on parenting and marriage, and to that end, people often seek my advice.
